It’s best to choose and confirm the shoot date a couple of weeks in advance.
For the best results, the home should be cleaned before: dusted surfaces, washed windows and mirrors, and unnecessary items removed.
Usually, the designer arrives on site a few hours before the shoot to prepare the space — decluttering, styling, and arranging decor. Decor can include artwork, rugs, plants, vases, books, magazines, lamps.
In the kitchen we also usually use fruit, vegetables, or dishes.
In bathrooms — small vases, jars, candles.
In bedrooms — fresh bedding, pillows, throws.
While I’m photographing one room, the designer can prepare the decoration in next one.
Ideally, residents are at work or school during the shoot, so we don’t interrupt each other.
Morning is generally the best time to shoot — the light is softer and more flattering. It doesn’t have to be a sunny day; cloudy weather often creates even better, more gentle light and shadows.
